WINNING IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY

“Everybody
loves a winner”, yet, many times we find ourselves pulling for the
underdog, the “Cinderella” team, the “Dream Team”, so the conflict of
wanting to be associated with ‘a winner’ battles within us, yet hoping
for the “dream to come true” for the underdog to win. Winning in
life issues are also of great concern to many people.
As the Football Season marches to the Bowls, some are called
Super, while others are called Championship; the others present great
moments of excitement for all the participants as well as their ‘fans’.
As
Basketball Season continues to gear up for the “madness” that surrounds
it, we realize that the closing of one year, also brings the opening of
another.
During this time, many people will re-evaluate, “Who they are,” “Where they have been”, and Where they are going.
Remember
this, “winning in life, is not based on the ‘scoreboard’, it is based
on Truth, and how you handled Truth.” (cf; John 14:6) We may lose
or fail, but we are not losers or failures if we refuse to give up.
On
the practical side of ‘winning in the face of adversity’ remember that
those who represent Truth and the Truth Giver, and sing, teach, preach
or testify have an ‘adversary’. (1 Peter 5:8)
